Snow MAN

Ok, so yes, I still hate snow but as I look out my office window, which is near a residential area, I see a snow man that some kids made yesterday.  As I looked at in walking in from the parking lot this morning, I noticed something odd about it and looked closer.  The kids (it had to be a kid) made it an anatomically correct snowMAN.  I started to laugh, which in this miserable weather is good.  Good thing for the snowMAN that the cold weather doesnt seem to have effected him in the shrinkage deptartment.

Snow

I am looking out my window at the snow and trying to find the beauty in it.  I know a lot of people who never get snow who think its some magical, fun or beautiful thing, but thats really only at Christmas.  I have lived in snow country all my life and every year dread it more and more.  It seems to come earlier and stay longer and be harder to cope with as time goes by.  I have been considering re-location, and have made some inquiries, but so far the only good offers have come from places with even worse weather than I already have to deal with.  I think its a conspiracy to keep my trapped in a parka the rest of my natural life.  The only upside is getting to engage my 4WD and break the drifts before the snow plows can.   Half the population of the town I live in have already evac'd to Florida or Arizona.  Snowbirds we call them.  I would call them smart to get the hell out before the worst comes.

I am so cold.........I need to find something to set afire to warm up and its only November.  This could be a long, cold winter.

Sick

I have had bronchitus this week, a less than pleasant experience, and it occured to me that one of lifes ironies are child proof caps.  I will admit I am helpless in the face of those trick tops.  I mean, if youre already sick, and then to have to though all THAT to get meds is kind of cruel.   I resorted to heavy scissors to cut the capsules free of their air locked seal.  The cough medicine in the bottle, though, takes an engineer who is also Mr Universe to open.  Push down while turning means I rip up my hand and still dont get in.  Hack sawing the top off didnt work too well either.  I have found the trick to child proof caps is to give it to a child to open.    See, lifes little ironies.

My log shows over 1800 hits, and that sort of astounds me.  You people need hobbies, I hope you know that.  I have had fun seeing all the people I have "rick rolled" though.   I figured setting it up under "personal pics" would do it.  Damn pic trolls.  Whats even more funny is when I see they log RIGHT back in and follow it again.  Thanks for the giggles on that one.

Carpenters

Good news for the carpenters union, you are in NO danger of losing work to me.  One of the weekends chores was to repair a closet rod that had broken (yes, I have a lot of clothes; I am a woman, deal with it).  I managed to hand saw some 2x4's to the proper length, and nail them to the corner studs of the closet.  (In my defense of breaking the rod, it was previously only hung in drywall, which can not be expected to bear the weight of a womans wardrobe.)  I then managed to affix the rod to the newly hung 2x4s but with great difficulty.  I tried this with nails.  That was a bad idea, and my bruised thumbs can attest to this.  I bent several nails, and while trying to pull them out, I broke the heads off of 2.  By this time I was cursing like a real carpenter (or sailor), so I reverted to my trusted 18v drill driver to drill the pilot holes and screw the rod and supports into the studs.  Its not perfectly level, and isnt pretty, but I can assure you, it will not break under the weight of even my clothing now.

Small victories of the "un-handy".

Autumn

I have found you see things from a whole new perspective sitting on your roof on a sunny autumn day.  (Note to self: to write about the Oak and Maple that share the root space and yet are forever seperated by a fance, I see a really good short story there.)  I have also found that if you put your hair in a pony tail on that same sunny day, its a good way to get sunburned.  I guess I am offically a red neck.  Temporarily, I assume.  On the up side my gutters look beautiful, all cleaned out and covered.   On the downside, I am still afraid of heights, and am very grateful to not have to (hopefully) go back up there for a while.

To the kind folks that have sent me notes and mail, thank you, I have enjoyed reading them and answered almost all of them.  I have gotton some not in English though, and I fear the translations are losing something, so I have not answered those, please forgive me.  I can curse in 8 or 9 languages, but really only speak english, though I do it really well.
